Checking

Want to look after your health?

The NHS Health Check is your chance to get your free midlife MOT. If you're aged 40-74, you may be eligible for a health check, which looks at your circulatory and vascular health and what your risk of getting a disabling vascular disease is.

Why should I get one?

As we get older, we have a higher risk of high blood pressure, heart disease or type 2 diabetes. An NHS Health Check can spot the early signs of these and help prevent them. Also, remember it’s FREE and could save your life.

What happens at an NHS Health Check?

The checks will be carried out by a qualified healthcare professional. The whole process last between 20 and 30 minutes.

You’ll also be asked some questions about your current lifestyle and family history which may put your health at risk. We'll record your height, weight, calculate your BMI and record your blood pressure.

A simple finger prick blood test is also carried to check your cholesterol level.

You can discuss the results and get personalised advice and lifestyle support. You may be asked to see your GP to discuss the results.

We carry out checks at various sites throughout Ealing, including community centres, shopping malls, workplaces and social clubs.
